Bitter or Better?

Our taste buds can be very useful but sometimes defective when it comes to making decision with the organ of the tongue. If it is not sweet, salty, sour or bitter, then what is it?
Well, even life leaves us with much deeper taste that has an enormous effect on what we become/do.
What are you going through and how does it leave you? These are couples of personal questions I am musing on today. I feel its safe to share thoughts that I gleaned and are blessing me too. Honestly everyone is going through some pressure or hurt or challenge or issues that may leave you wondering if you are getting bitter or better.

If you have ever had interactions or sat down with people that are hurting.
People that are really struggling in life.
People who are grieving the loss of a loved one. People whose partner has cheated on them.
People with addictions/disorders.
People who are suicidal.
People who have no idea where their lives are going.
People who are feeling lonely and detached from the world.
People who have lost their jobs.
People who are being abused
People who have been turned on by their own families
The list goes on and on... you'll appreciate this more.

Maybe you are hurting today
Do you know what I've learnt?
There are two types of people who hurt.
1) The ones who deal with their suffering by becoming a victim.
They blame their circumstances and people around them - anything but themselves.
They decide they are powerless to change anything and become embittered towards the things and people they believe are ruining their lives.
2) The ones who deal with their suffering by becoming a victor.
They realize they can't always change their circumstances or the people around them - but they can change themselves.
Instead of becoming bitter they make a choice to become better.
It involves a mentality that says - whether this was my fault or not, my only option is to focus on letting Jesus mold me into a better person through it all.
I've seen hundreds of people make each decision.
When you choose to be bitter you remain in your suffering.
When you choose to be better you don't.
It's as simple as that.

The circumstance or people might never change - but you can.
So if you are hurting, if you are suffering... How are you dealing with it?
Are you being a victim, becoming bitter - or are you choosing to be better through it all, allowing Christ to turn you into a victor?
Love ya!
