OFFENCES
– 1COR 10:32-33
Do not let yourself be [ hindrance by giving]an offense to the Jews or to the Greeks or the church of God [do not lead others into sin by your mode of life] 1cor 10:32[Amp].
It is amazing how the cankerworm of offence can eat into the fabric of congregation, families and friends. It breeds resent, rage, dissensions, reviling, malice etc and the end product is hardly measurable. Many marriages had been wrecked by minor offences, churches divided and families scattered by such. People get offended too easily. As long as we live in a community among others there will always be issues but like someone said the best anyone can do to you is to get you angry; what you do to yourself is called offense. We can choose not to be offended, angry, bitter or resentful over others.
Our level of spiritual development is tested by offences as we are not higher than things that offend us.
Eph4:2 shows how we can deal with offences “Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowances for each other’s faults because of your love”[NTL]. There is absolute nothing big enough to steal your joy; do not allow anyone determine your happiness or “spoil your day” you are too joyful to be resentful.
Carry yourself throughout today with a joyful charm on your face, you are bigger than those offences and there is no room for offence.
